One of the toughest roles that I have taken on is being a father. It’s one that you start with no experience and learn as you go along. I remember feeling on top of the world when Joshua, my eldest son was born 12 years ago. It was the most awesome feeling to witness his birth.
Being a father is a role that comes with no fixed job description but with the biggest responsibility to deliver top quartile outcomes i.e. to raise and equip two boys to live and thrive in this world. I pray all the decision that I have made up to now is for their very best and hope that the mistakes that I have made along the way will have minimum impact on them.

I have had a good role model to follow, not perfect but he’s been there when you need him most. My dad or papa as I call him, Thambiraj or Raj as he’s known to his friends.
Growing up I don’t remember spending much time doing fun stuff because dad used to work on weekends. When I moved to Bintulu in early 2007 to work with Shell, dad joined us on that journey and got on the plane with us to lend us a helping hand settling into our new home in Sarawak.
It was a wonderful experience to spend time doing stuff together, going to the park, eating out, travelling and exploring Sarawak and Sabah and watching him spend time with the boys.

We spent three years in Bintulu and he was with us for more than half that time. He was a super help as I spent quite a bit of time travelling. Dad even visited us in Doha and stayed with us for a month to experience life in the desert. The boys really enjoyed having tata in Qatar.
Well papa, Happy Father’s Day! And thanks for being there for us. Hoping to have you visit us soon in Canberra so we can pick up where we left off.
