About Exodus
Exodus is not just about reaching the promised land. It is about the journey you take to get there and the experiences along the way that make you who you are.
Often we are too busy trying to get somewhere that we forget to live, experience and enjoy the present moment. The purpose of this blog is for me to stop, reflect and write down the lessons that I have learnt.
These are some snapshots of my life, experiences and struggles. I hope these posts inspire you to keep moving forward no matter what challenge is in front of you and let you know that you are not alone.
Over the years my writing has turned toward the deeper questions behind those experiences: what we really worship, why the self is so hard to escape, and how the words, media and ideas we live inside shape who we become. If you are new here, start here.
About me
My name is Mark Devan and I am a father, cyclist and writer on a journey of self-discovery.
In my day job, I am a communications professional who loves building relationships and bringing people together to make a difference. I believe my role is not simply to communicate a “message” but to bring about positive change.
I have been fortunate to experience a broad and enriching journey, growing up in Kuala Lumpur then studying in Tauranga and moving on to live and work in Bintulu, Doha and Canberra.
I have also had the opportunity to work with a variety of organisations, ranging from small businesses to multinational corporations, across government, not-for-profit, energy, automotive, consulting, and media.
