Cycling Doha

Doha, Qatar has been my home for almost two years. Its an interesting experience cycling in the desert. The terrain is almost flat with sand and rocks. Coming from the rainforest of Malaysia this was a bit of a change for me.

I usually cycle on the evenings on weekends on a 10 km highway stretch that has a very nice bicycle lane. Its a nice workout especially when you are riding into a strong headwind. Its provides quite a challenge to an otherwise flat ride.

The first few rides I did I had the shock of my life when I was riding only to be passed by a Land Cruiser flashing its light right in the cycle lane. Brings new meaning to sharing the roads.

Cycling provides a welcome break and some quiet time in the peaceful serenity of the desert.

There is nothing quite like the stillness and peacefulness here. It rejuvenates me for the following week.
