How to survive rejection and overcome failure

IMG_0095.JPG

Rejection feels like running into a brick wall.

Defeated.

The door slams shut in your face as you were trying to get your foot in, yet again.

Disappointed.

You try to get up, only to have the wind knocked out of you.

Rejected.

You have done nothing to deserve this yet you feel like you have been targeted.

What have I done to deserve this?

Whatever the reason you are in this situation, it doesn’t matter, the feeling is the same.

Hopeless.

No light at the end of the tunnel. No future to look forward to. No hope to keep going on.

How do you deal with pressure?

Cool, calm and collected. That’s how I like to see myself. Flexible enough to weather the force of the storm and able to chart a course to the closest safe haven.

Most people will be able to deal with tough times it if it lasts a few hours or days. But what if it drags on for weeks, then months? How do you keep your sanity and head above water when there is no end in sight?

Stretched to the limit, tired, worn out and ready to quit. But you don’t have a choice but to keep going…

Stop and start sinking.

“A man is not defeated by his opponents but by himself” – Jan Christian Smuts

It is not “others” or some external obstacle that needs to be overcome but the deep feelings of defeat and failure that I have let fester and is eating me up inside.

Step back and deal with the internal issue.

Me, my attitude, my feelings.

That’s the root of the problem. Start to deal with the “inside” and what is “outside” will work itself out.

I am not going to let myself be defeated by ME.

What about you?
