Courage is not the absence of fear

I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it…

“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear”

– Nelson Mandela.

I still feel afraid of change and distressed by the uncertainty of life. So I tell myself…

Don’t ignore your emotions and feelings. They have something to tell you. They are an inbuilt early warning system. Fine tune and use it together with your wisdom and intelligence.

Don’t just be led by what you feel. Don’t just be afraid but decide to conquer your fears.

Love this passage from Paul’s Letter to the Romans that turns how we view tough times on its head.

*See Paul’s Letter to the Romans Chapter 5: 3 – 5.

“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.”

‭‭- Romans‬ ‭5:3-5‬ ‭NLT‬‬
