The Fear Factor

How not to let fear shape your destiny.

Don’t let fear shape your destiny

Fear is real.

You can feel it in your body, mind and spirit.

Stop. Be still. Breathe.

Create a space in the eye of the storm.

Don’t ignore what you are feeling. It’s real.

Ask what can this emotion teach you about yourself.

There is a reason it’s there.

Beware fear distorts your perception of reality.

We don’t see things as they are; we see them as we are – Anaïs Nin

You get hooked into a particular way of thinking.

Then locked into tunnel vision.

Fear numbs your senses and slowly destroys your mind and body’s natural ability to cope.

You eventually become overwhelmed, anxious, depressed and then burnout.

Is there a way out?

Yes there is.

STOP and acknowledge its presence and affect on your life.

Don’t deny it or hide from it.

It won’t simply go away.

Face it and accept it for what it is.

Remember you are more than the sum of all your fears.

This courageous yet simple act will break fear’s hold on you.

One of the great paradoxes of human experience is that we can’t change ourselves or our circumstances until we accept what exists right now. Acceptance is a prerequisite for change – Susan David in Emotional Agility
