meditation Prayer

A prayer for times of uncertainty from Psalms 46:10

When your back is against the wall and there nothing left for you to do. Find a still place to sit, breathe slowly and anchor yourself using this prayer.

When you don’t know what the future may bring. Find a place to sit. Outdoors in nature if possible or any quite place will do.

Begin by breathing slowly and deeply and say the following words.

Allow each word to resonate deep within your being and allow it to connect to the stillness and beauty around you.

With each breath leave out a word until you are simply left with the final word. Letting it sink into the depth of your soul and fill your being.

Psalm 46:10

Be still and know that I am God

Be still and know that I am

Be still and know

Be still

Be

Amen

When your back’s against the wall and there nothing left for you to do. Find a still place to sit, breathe slowly and anchor yourself using this prayer.

Each day at the CAC we begin our morning sit by repeating a line from Psalm 46:10: “Be still and know that I am God.” With each repetition, we drop a word from the verse until we finally say only “Be,” before entering the silence together. It is a reminder that no matter how we arrive that day, we are called to be, and be still, before God.
